Power-Vaping Club Makes Regionals
After months of training and regular season play, the Northwestern University Power-Vaping Club won their first Big Ten Championship last Saturday night and has qualified for regionals. When asked how the team pulled off the underdog victory against #5 Ohio State, team captain Chad Bradford, SESP ’18, told Flipside reporters, “It was definitely a team effort. Q and Mad-Dog were carrying us at the beginning. But, when Ricky D hit that triple reverse Table Tornado in OT, I nearly shit myself.”
Bradford has been on the Power-Vaping Club all five years since he arrived at Northwestern back in 2013, redshirting his freshman year after being placed on IR with a lung injury. “It has been truly amazing to see how far the squad has come since back in ’13 when I was sidelined with Klein’s Disease. I am humbled to already be part of Northwestern Vape History. To hear my name being compared to some of the NU greats such as RJ, Dirty, and David Schwimmer is really inspiring. Me and my boys going to celly tonight.”
Although the team parties hard tonight, tomorrow the real challenge starts. The Power-Vaping Club now has to rigorously prepare for next week’s trip down to Nashville for Midwest Regionals, where they will face “Vape-araiso” University in the first round. The team thinks they are ready for the competition, but there will only be one way to know for sure: Win. And no matter how far they advance in regionals, Bradford can look forward to having his custom box mod K200 hanging in the halls of Welsh-Ryan one day.
