Seventh Grade Social Studies Teacher Who Said “I’ll Wait” in 2012 Reportedly Still Waiting
On March 14, 2012, seventh grade social studies teacher Amy Watson struggled to gain control of her class. “The rascals wouldn’t stop giggling after I said the words ‘civic duty.’”
In a committed attempt to silence her students, Watson, following the Middle School Teacher’s Handbook section 37C, threatened to wait. “I did just that. I pitched a tent right here in room B-43 and haven’t left since.”
While most teachers only wait for about three to five minutes, Watson has gone above and beyond — she’s been in the classroom for almost nine years.
“I’m not exactly sure what I’m waiting for anymore, but I know I must wait. It is coming.” When asked to expand on what she meant by “it,” Watson just sort of growled and mouthed “I will eat you.”
In response to being asked how she’s been able to survive, Watson claimed, “I catch my own fish in that pond.” There was no pond.
Although in six months she’ll technically be considered feral by the U.S. government, Watson is still sticking it out for her students.
“It’s not bad at all,” she said. “I haven’t talked to my husband in almost a decade, and I’m growing hair out of holes I didn’t even know I had. So I can’t complain.”
