Local RA Only Member of Floor GroupMe
Local RA Jane Cassidy, WCAS ’18, is confirmed to be the only remaining member of the 3rd Floor Willard GroupMe. Rumors persist that every resident of Willard Residential College’s 3rd floor was initially a member of the group, but Cassidy’s intense plan-making and alleged threats to those who missed events drove the residents to either leave or mute the conversation.
“I thought Cassidy was really cool at first, but then she cornered me in the lounge, yelling about how I missed some Saturday night info session about using the CTA,” said Abby Simmons, SESP ‘19, who lives two doors down from Cassidy. Reportedly, another incident followed in which Cassidy tried to tie Simmons down with the latter’s illegal string lights upon finding them strung up in her room. “At that point I went to see residential services about moving,” said Simmons.
Other students admitted to similar disturbing activity from their RA, though some refrained from commenting when Cassidy suddenly appeared in the hall with flyers for a mandatory meeting and an angry look in their direction.
Flipside investigators convinced one student, who shall remain unnamed by request, to unmute the conversation in GroupMe for the sake of this article. Though no one is left to see Cassidy’s comments, let alone respond to them, she is still attempting to build a sense of community and togetherness she so desires.
One very recent comment read: “HEY GUYS!! I will be waiting by the door at 4:30PM for anyone who has decided to join me on a walk around the Lakefill. Afterwards we can get dinner in Allison and maybe grab some ice cream. BE THERE!” The end of the message included a mix of odd emojis including one smiley face, two laughing faces, a crying face, and seven red angry faces..
Though students have tried endlessly to report her, the university has indicated they appreciate her devotion to the job and countless attempts to engage new students in activities.
